Dear wise & wonderful Pallavi! What a fresh insightful piece this is on Marriage, Parenting… and life itself :-). As always, love how you make me think again about something … Sharing at once with my daughter, mum of a 6 year old and wife of an (argumentative) but a good man 😄

I hurriedly printed out this piece and laid it on my husband and kids' desks as this is precisely the point that I have been trying to make for 14 years now. Having been raised in an extended family that laugh and argue vociferously, being subjugated nor meek come easily to me. Sven's household was the exact opposite so my style doesn't go down well and in turn, the kids feel anxious. I am hoping that your article will help them realise that fighting fair, resolving conflict and eventually making up are a healthy and desired outcome.

My wife and I have a very similar thought process. Though I do worry sometimes if it means that our kids will be unable to have calm, harmonious partnerships themselves.
