Made for enjoyable reading, as always. Wonderful description of how places/ countries can be defined by the way they look, taste and sound. And by their differing attitudes to physical proximity and contact in public spaces. Very evocative..

You have written well about touch and its presence/ absence across societies. I believe smell is equally present/ absent. Smell is what connects our body and mind.

Insightful, as always.. and great question : has Covid changed our concept of intimacy and distance? I think it did, but we have reverted back to the acceptable norms.
