Cant agree with you more on this. Have experienced it myself. It too me so many years to try and shrug off the diffidence and I have still not managed to do it fully. I guess it has something to do with the way women are conditioned or is there a biological component. I don't think my daughter's generation (She is 21) feels quite the same way.

Then gender gap in salary exists only in work environments which is run by tantrums, whims, favouritism and lobbies.
In theory there is nothing to perpetuate gender gap in salary in a corporate environment which is based on merit and HR department.
And in practice this theory is very much implemented since more than 2 decades.
