Jigsaws are an obsession of mine and I loved reading that you started doing them during Covid-19. Moko doesn't understand how I can sit for so long, patiently and surgically, fitting the pieces back together again to create the "big" picture. I love reading your posts......thank you! You constantly inspire, encourage and make me laugh and smile.

Thank you for a nice post! I was thinking about how to convey my (very limited) wisdom to my kids and could summarise it as: do care, don’t mind. It seems contradictory but actually isn’t.

Hmm - trying to commit to memory some of the poems from T S Elliot’s- Old Possums Book of Cats and Andrew Lloyd’s opera Cats 🐈‍⬛ helps ! A struggle but keeps the day’s empties occupied and a great sense of achievement ! Managed to get down two over a month !

Great post! Two things I've learned living far from home and in the come-and-go of expat life: be the first to reach out even when (especially when!) no one did that for you. I saw a woman standing alone as everyone drifted away from drop off on the first day of school 2 years ago and I just asked her to have coffee with me while we waited for the couple hours of that half day to finish. We are still friends and she remembers that gesture so much and it was nothing for me. The second is, if you don't find something you want/need (a workshop on hinamatsuri, a book club of a certain type, an Irish language class) be the one to form it. I was never that person and now I am and it's way better!!
